Watch: Villagers - "The Waves"

As a preview of Villagers January 15 album {awayland}, "The Waves" is a strobing, mildly disconcerting bit o' animation set to Conor O'Brian's innovative, slightly askew art-pop melody. Set atop a snaking conga-line synth beat and incessant bassline punch, the track takes a few remarkable twists and turns -- something we've come to expect from the always interesting Irish songwriter and band -- and ends in a cacophonous melange of blips, beats and general mayhem.
