Dana Falconberry's "Lake Charlevoix" comes to us from the Austin, TX-based artist's fine fall 2012 album Leelanau, an inspired collection of orchestral folk/pop that NPR's All Songs Considered described as "the musical equivalent of bounding through a poppy field, with fluttering little butterflies dancing in the air." Says Falconberry in a similar vein, "There is this general feeling of nostalgia, but the album is also about the triumphs of being a kid - a celebration of running on the beach or in the woods." One of our favorite tracks "Lake Charlevoix" offers a wistful, elegiac look back at the Michigan body of water near the rural Leelanau area where Falconberry vacationed as a child (and still returns). True to the theme, the song has a simple, natural beauty.
