RADAR: The Night VI

Much like the L.A. sibling trio Haim, U.K. band The Night VI have a soft spot for the nostalgic pop and soul classics of the past while keeping their influences tightly tethered to a more mainstream alt/pop vibe. Formed in 2010 at London's French Lycée, the unfortunately monikered The Night VI (playing now at the multi-plex!) released their debut EP Still Thinking of You a few months back and are currently working on the follow up for an early 2014 release. Singer Sophie-Rose Harper helps instill a seductive aura to the band's freshly-scrubbed but artful songs, particularly on the EP's title track (watch the video below), a sublime helping of glistening guitar lines and a shuffling beat that would make Mick Fleetwood proud. The band have been releasing some eclectic covers, too -- check out their versions of songs from Lorde, Marvin Gaye and Jeff Buckley at their Soundcloud page.
