Sean O'Neill's soundscapes meld minimalist guitar shadings, sumptuous keyboard beds and stunning brass arrangements for sound that is both epic and restrained. New EP Moving In Time allows the frontman for Aussie band Hang On St. Christopher (named for a Tom Waits song) to experiment with some sonic textures that, while not unique, have a distinctively moody atmosphere, the soundtrack to clouds drifting across a moonlit sky. We're particularly taken with "A Heavy Weight" with it's ambient-meets-folk quality, gently picked guitar lines, O'Neill's husky voice and some lovely symphonic brass notes creating a soft aural glow -- the perfect accompaniment to the break of day. Check out the excellent live-in-the-studio performance videos below.
