Afficionados of the classic U.K. folk masters Nick Drake, John Martyn and, more recently, the likes of Benjamin Francis Leftwich and Alexi Murdoch, will want to explore the fine acoustic songsmithery of Glasgow troubadour Robin Adams. Pared back to mostly the intimate confines of finger-picked guitar and voice, Adams' music combines selected aspects of the Brit folk tradition while adding that special near-mystical quality through some skillfully opaque lyricism. The superb "Catapult" and "Sun Behind The Storm", released earlier this year, are Adams at his best with a production that is even warmer and richer than his 2011 full-length Be Gone. Look for a new song or two from Adams later this month.

This is one of the most incredible song writers of our time, with desperately haunting lyrics woven together by melodies over chords only the best of us come close to imitating. It shows the true state popular music when Robin Adams is not yet heard by the masses, and after hearing his work, I hope it's not long until others become captivated by his music.
