Oscar & The Wolf's second EP Summer Skin (Out now, PIAS) was recorded in an abandoned church in Belgium over a four-week period, a desolate atmosphere that imbues the Brussels-based band's intelligent art/pop with a special spacious and dreamy feel. Produced by Robin Proper-Sheppard, songs like the sleek and hazy "Orange Sky" (video below) meld slow-grooved acousticism and elegant, ethereal songwriting with Max Colombies plaintive, distant vocals. There's not a weak track in the bunch but we're particularly taken with the blissful, ticking-beat "All I Want" as Colombies and backing singer Eva Vermeiran entwine for some lovely harmonies over gleaming guitar pickings.
