RADAR: Liz Longley

Philly native Liz Longley ended up in Nashville by way of a stopover in Boston (and The Berklee School of Music) where she joined the thousands of would-be songwriter sensations in a town known for nurturing the craft's best and brightest. In a short time, Longley has gone from outsider to respected and in-demand writer and performer, staking out her own territory in the crowded field of folk, pop and country-tinged tunesmiths and co-writing dozens of songs with some of the Nashville's most respected musical bylines. Things have been falling into place: a new high-profile management deal, a new self-titled album (release TBA), a long list of TV sync track placements and opening concert slots for artists like Shawn Colvin and Amos Lee. Longley is, as they say, primed. New song "This Is Not The End" is both typical of her melodic gifts as well as a solid step forward in production, a track that plays out somewhere between nuanced ballad and jangling folk/rock anthem replete with lush electric guitar lines and a rhythm section that knows how and when to step things up. Stream her sublime and stripped down version of the Van Morrison classic "Moondance" below...
