British 17-year-old Chlöe Howl isn't the first and certainly won't be the last in what's certain to be the major labels' hunt for "someone that sounds like Adele". The label in question in Columbia U.K. and the delightfully named Howl (here's hoping that's her real name) fits the bill perfectly in tone and phrasing. But what's dramatically different -- and better or worse, depending on your taste -- is the switch to a synthy, Lily-Allen-meets- Human League electronics base and Howl's feisty "fuck your no strings" and screw-your-expectations niceties. Seems like this relationship isn't meant to get off the ground.
