Buffalo Tales is the new musical appellation of Australian singer/songwriter Wes Carr. The fact that he is also the 2008 winner of Australian Idol just may have entered into his decision to find a new handle despite the fact that his last album -- 2009's The Way the World Looks -- sold gold Down Under (peaking at #2). "I've got this Wes Carr thing hanging over my head that I have to kill off," he says. "I'm sick of that character. It is tainted." The hair and beard are a little longer and hirsutely impressive now that those heady post-Idol days --and chart success -- are a distant memory. But Carr's music, a blend of of Jack Johnson-styled rhythmic folk/pop and coffee house ballads, maintains its easygoing appeal on his upcoming indie album Roadtrip Confessions due in June. Sing-a-long lead single "Amsterdam" won't arrlve until next month but we do have a couple of Confession-al previews: "Blood and Bone", the title track to a 2012 EP, and an impressive new cover of Sia Furler's "Diamonds". Stream "Blood and Bone" and watch the video for "Been A Long Time" after the jump.
