Andrew Davie (ex- Cherbourg), Joey Haynes, and Kevin Jones make up Bear's Den, a trio of Londoners who are readying the release of their five-track debut EP Agape for a March 18 drop in the U.K. Given the band's penchant for sprightly pub folk/rock and alt-country leanings, it's no surprise that the band's release is arriving via Communion Records, the respected imprint co-founded by Mumford and Sons' Ben Lovett -- or that Bear's Den opened for the Mumfords last year at London's 02 arena. Recorded with Kristoffer Harris, Agape (from a Greek word for a distinct type of "love") mixes British influences with a strong chaser of Americana jangle, songs like title track hitting that sweet spot of head and heart, a rustic banjo-laced jaunt written and sung by Davie and performed by a band that's clearly comfortable in its own collective skin. We're expecting big things. Listen to "Pompeii" and watch the Bear's Den EPK after the jump ...
