John River Shannon's particular brand of spacious, mystic folk/pop defies the fact that the Pittsburgh-raised singer/songwriter now makes his home amidst the concrete and busy streets of New York City. "Always", lifted from his forthcoming album Time Was A Lie (October 16, Obliqsounds, features Shannon's whispery tenor backed by a waltzing bass line and rhythmic acoustic shuffle highlighted by and a classic-sounding lead guitar break.
