"I See Fire" is probably the kind of song that platinum-generating, multi-award-winning 22-year old British singer/songwriter Ed Sheeran writes in his sleep. But it's also our first new solo music from the cross-genre juggernaut in over two years and the only non-instrumental track on the December 10 soundtrack to the forthcoming Hobbit movie, the rather unfortunately-titled epic The Desolation of Smaug. "It was such an honor working with Peter Jackson on this song," Sheeran says. "Not only is he one of my favorite directors of my favorite films, The Hobbit was the first book I ever read as a child, so it means a lot that I get to produce music for the motion picture.” He adds, excitedly, I'm still geeking out that I've done a song for a Peter Jackson film set in Middle-earth!” Sheeran's second solo full-length, produced by studio legend Rick Rubin, is scheduled for an early 2014 release.
