Laura Jansen - Elba (March 22, Europe) - L.A.-based singer/songwriter has made The Hotel Cafe her second home over the past decade but this bi-lingual daughter of an American mother and Dutch father has found success in Europe, scoring a #1 album in Holland (2009's Bells) with sales of more than 70,000 copies...While not widely known in the U.S. beyond her cover of The Kings of Leon's "Use Somebody", Jansen is a popular staple of the L.A. songwriter community, touring with the likes of Sara Bareilles, Ingrid Michaelson and Joshua Radin...Elba, produced by Matt "Aqualung" Hales (Lianne La Havas), features a more electro/pop edge with Hales noting Jonsi, Bjork and Kate Bush as stylistic reference points... New single (and video below) "Queen of Elba" percolates with a lush, synth-beat edge while piano ballad "Pretty Me" offers a poignant touch...Ed Harcourt guests on "Call To Arms" while Tom Chaplin (Keane) trades verses on "Same Heart"...Watch the video for "Queen of Elba" and "Same Heart" below...
