We Were Found In The Fog is the full-length debut album from Canada's Federal Lights, an alt-pop band centered on the songs of frontman and founder Jean-Guy Roy. Formerly of the Winnipeg-based The Morning After, Roy enlisted engineer Cam Loepkky (Weakerthans) and backing musicians (including his wife Jody on keyboards) and released the well-received EP Carbon under the Federal Lights moniker in 2011. Then, working with producer Rusty Matyas of Winnipeg band Imaginary Cities, Roy and band expanded their sound and vision for this year's We Were Found In The Fog, an album that manages to sound both anthemic and intimate, sometimes within the confines of a single song. Listen to how the title track evolves from quiet acoustic strummer to blustery, Beatles-meet-Bruce riff rocker. Let's hope for a U.S. roll out in 2014.
