Chance meetings can mean the world to a young songwriter. Just ask Georgia-raised songstress Angel Snow. When she happened to meet Allison Krauss at a friend's house, Snow made sure Krauss left with a copy of her CD. Taken with what she heard, Krauss suggested songwriting session with her brother -- and acclaimed instrumentalist -- Viktor. The duo's two years of collaborations delivered three songs Allison chose for her own Paper Airplanes album as well as a batch of inspired tracks for Snow's own self-titled LP due October 2. Featuring eight Snow/Krauss co-writes along with four newly recorded songs from Snow's '07 debut album, Angel Snow is an immaculately crafted collection of country-tinged folk and chamber pop. "Lie Awake", a song originally picked for Airplanes, glistens atop a backdrop of delicate acoustic lines, Snow's voice more direct and less wistful than Krauss'. "Stay Away" is two-and-a-half minutes of goose-bump-inducing bliss. But our fave -- among many -- is "Civil Things", a song that starts on strong and just keeps getting better (check out the chord progressions around the one minute mark). Want more?
