"It's also a promising peek at her upcoming -- and oh-so-overdue -- new album Can't Go Back (August 28, Edel), her first in seven years. Unlike the stripped and intimate 2005 Sentimental, the new project, recorded in L.A. with producer Paul Bryan (Aimee Mann, Grant Lee Phillips), promises a larger, more colorful creative canvas for the singer who sold five million copies of her 1988 debut album Ancient Heart. More on Can't Go Back next month -- for now it's time to simply revel in "that voice".
Tanita Tikaram - "Dust On My Shoes" (from Can't Go Back)
Says Tanita: "The word 'freedom' becomes more and more important to all of us - in every choice, every political & moral decision and the attempt to live in a free way I find very moving. It is also about how you can be free from people's conceptions of you, if you want and how, while I don t have faith, I do believe and I do strive to have an open mind."
