"Music is me in my rawest state", says Rae Morris, a precocious, piano-playing 18-year-old singer and songwriter from Blackpool, England, "All I'm trying to do is fill that great need that lies within me to write and perform." It's just that particular passion that permeates Morris' earnest, confessional songs like new single "Don't Go", an outpouring of sentiment in a style that may strike some as overly mannered but clearly emanates straight from the heart. With her oversized shock of curly locks, Morris presents a striking image as she sits at her piano and sings of love and loss, of hope and compromised feelings. This live video reminds us of the power of a song sung simply, directly and with real emotion. A new, more fully produced EP (with band) is in the works via Warner Music U.K. -- stay tuned.
