Taken from Hey Ocean!'s forthcoming Nettwerk album IS (date TBA) and current EP, "Big Blue Wave" is an irresistable video and can't-get-it-out-of-my-head song that takes us back to when power pop was cool and New Wavey and effervescent sonic refreshers like this one used to waft from pop radio speakers with regularity. The Vancouver trio --vocalist Ashleigh Ball, bassist/producer David Vertesi and guitarist David Beckingham -- have delivered what we described last fall as "a breezy blend of pop, soul and folk" but with a new sound that's "even bigger, bolder and brighter than before."
