"Simple Song" may be simple but it's also a majestic steaming slab of melodic, slightly retro art-pop from James Mercer's Shins. It's also the first taste from the forthcoming March 20 album Port of Morrow (Columbia/Aural Apothecary) -- and we have to say we're already salivating for more. The new Port, produced by Greg Kurstin (The Bird and The Bee, Lily Allen, Sia), is pretty much a one-man show from the studio with Mercer handling all the songwriting, vocals and most of the instrumentation -- though we hear some of Kurstin's noodling electronics here and there on "Simple Song". This is the first new music from The Shins since 2007's Wincing the Night Away as Mercer took a break to work with Brian "Danger Mouse" Burton on their 2010 project Broken Bells.

Nice track. Simple but cool. I also like the album cover. Simple but unique. :)
