Watch: Chadwick Stokes - "Rainsong"

"Rainsong" comes to us from Simmerkane II the recent solo debut by Chadwick Stokes, singer/guitarist for the late Dispatch and State Radio as well as dedicated social activist. The ragged and occasionally jammy rock of his earlier bands has been pretty much jettisoned this time around, replaced with an organic, 70's pop earthiness and some songs that would bookend nicely to some 70's vinyl hippie-folk/rock classics. "Rainsong" has shambling pace and nicely turned melody, a mellow Neil-Young-meets-Cat-Stevens vibe perfect for a Laurel Canyon bbq and hash party. And hey isn't that Carly Simon dropping in some laid back harmonies? And don't you just love the name Chadwick? Cool animated video from director Sam Cohen (of The Yellowbirds).
