Why isn't Brooke Fraser a major, best-selling artist here as she is in New Zealand and Australia? We can't figure it out, but we can keep going back to her exquisite, woefully underexposed album Flags for more. "Coachella" gathers up all of the Fraser qualities in one song: stellar songwriting, richly textured production and a voice that is the aural equivalent of crushed velvet. Check out the hair-raising chord changes around the 2:15 mark...more DC Flags-saluting here.

Her time will come. But right now, I'm really loving her jacket. Is that leather or the light just gives me the impression that it's leather?
I listened twice and enjoyed the track but didn't hear any "hair raising" chord changes at or beyond the 2:15 mark. I heard some minor seven chords in a standard progression in a standard pop song harmonization. There was nothing rad like you'd hear in Steely Dan or Beach Boys. Not to take away from the song, it's great. AND she has a really good voice. I'm going to check out her album somewhere.
My only complaint is that she could work on her pronunciation of the letter "s". Lines like "shlip off my shoes" and "shetting down this shadness" and "shmoke and shtarlight" really threw me off.
