Watch: Samantha Savage Smith - 'You Always Come to Mind'

Ahh, OK...one of those voices. Vulnerable and slow-smoked, capable of inhabiting that hazy neverland between kittenish retro pop, shadowy rock bite and Billie-Holiday-sounding cabaret jazz, Alberta singer/songwriter Samantha Savage Smith wedges her intriguing pipes into some interesting places on her album Tough Cookie, making its way south of the Canadian border September 6. While there are some edgier tracks in her Cookie jar, the tough-meets-tender "You Always Come to Mind" gives her some breathing room, a siren-song of lonesome, late night wishes.
