Matthew Perryman Jones - Journeyman Nashville songwriter strips back seven songs from his three studio albums -- and adds two new songs -- for this recent collection...self-released earlier this year, the project is getting a larger national CD rollout next month...MJP is currently working on songs for a follow up slated for 2012 // Release: Until the Dawn Appears (September 15, Out now digitally) // Sounds like: While not an "unplugged" set, the starkly produced Dawn brings a more personal feel to the approach... "Save You" sounds positively nocturnal with a reverbed piano and Jones' subdued vocals...
Quote: "The thing I love about music is its having roots and wings. I love music that has the roots vibe to it. The wings part is something that feels more transcendent. I like that it can have that magical, ethereal vibe to it." // What we like: the attitude of an artist comfortable to go back and tinker with his own songs...the lovely piano touches and entwined harmonies of the previously unreleased title track...plus a great lyric: "It's easier to clench your fist and grind your teeth than to look into the sadness that lives underneath"...
