In many ways, Josh Hoge exemplifies the DIY ethic that's pretty much become de rigueur for aspiring performing songwriters these days. The many moves -- Nashville to L.A. and back again over a few years. The brass ring of major label signing turned into disappointment following cutbacks and corporate shuffling. The interesting co-write opportunities (with the likes of Ne-Yo, Ryan Tedder, Dave Barnes and Matt Wertz). The relentless 175 shows-per-year touring schedule. Selling CD's out of his touring van (upward of 30,000 in three years). Working with producer Marshall Altman, Hoge released his last album Everything She Was in 2008, a well-received project that, like the artist, has grown and found success via the slow but sure route. Hoge is working with Altman again on the Everything followup for release in 2012. The next album, Hoge promises, will be more "southern/down home" in the vibe department and the acoustic demo for new song "Bullet" gives us a peak at where he's headed.
