RADAR: Ambrosia Parsley

Ambrosia Parsley - Former frontwoman for alt-pop band Shivaree is back with a new solo project...her first work since the Shivaree covers album Tainted Love from 2007, she's taken time off to raise a five-year-old // Release: Weeping Cherry (Working title, date TBA) // Sounds like: Parsley's dark, moody songs have always been juxtaposed with her the light, girlish tone of her voice -- one critic called it the sound of an "inebriated child"...when Quentin Tarantino chose "Goodnight Moon" for Kill Bill 2, he knew what he was doing // What we like: the vintage girl-group feel of new single (and free download) "The Other Side", featuring some wonderfully raw guitar from Chris Maxwell...drowsy ballad "Weeping Cherry" has a "To Sir With Love" melodic turn here and there -- lovely..."Rubble", a slowly thickening atmosphere of discord and tempered feedback...and who wouldn't love the name Ambrosia Parsley?
