Covers are tricky things -- remaining true to the spirit of the original while putting your own unique signature on it can be an interesting balancing act. To hear how it can be done, check out this version of the Terence Trent D'Arby's 80's hit from Jason Spooner. Taken from his consistently fine album Sea Monster, "Wishing Well"'s punchy brass highlights and slinky guitar lines keep the original's funky foundation while putting a seamless folk/rock shuffle right on top. Thanks for your spot-on comments about Jason's cover of "Wishing Well". True, it's hard to have both a faithful version and a unique spin on a song that another artist is associated with, and Jason has done a masterful job on this one. We appreciate your support of his CD "Sea Monster".
