RADAR: Field Mouse

Thickly spread, lushly decadent dream pop is the sweet and sumptuous elixir du jour served up by Brooklyn's Field Mouse, a band that has evolved from the initial creative songwriting duo of singer/guitarist Rachel Browne and guitarist Andrew Futral. Drifting and atmospheric shoegaze holds hands with sprightly, brightly colored power pop on the amusingly-titled single "You Guys Are Gonna Wake Up My Mom." The hazy, gauzy production borders on an overly dense aural fog at times but there's enough sparkly grand crescendos and sharp hooks at hand (along with Browne's ether-soaked vocals) to shine through and keep things eminently hummable. For more, check out their version of Deerhunter's "Helicopter", a song that that the band says is "one of our favorites of 2010."
