Listen: Johanna & The Dusty Floor - 'Cloudbusting' (Kate Bush Cover)

Brooklyn-based Aussie Johanna Cranitch takes the moniker Johanna and the Dusty Floor for her artful indie pop, music that, as we've described earlier, "taps into the standard-bearers of progressive fantasmic alt-pop female expression -- most notably Kate Bush with a smidgen of Bjork and Imogen Heap  -- and the newer crop of symphonic synth-esses like Bat for Lashes' Natasha Khan." The Bush comparison comes into even starker relief on this cover of "Cloudbusting" from Kate's 1985 album The Hounds of Love. Cranitch's voice has a lovely air throughout the thoughtful reading -- evocative but not imitative -- and when she sings "I know that something good is gonna happen", you know she's right.
