Listen: Tanita Tikaram - "Wonderful Shadow" (Acoustic)
It's been a good 20+ years since Tanita Tikaram had a minor hit with "Twist In My Sobriety" and sold three million copies of her debut album, but we've been quietly keeping tabs on the brilliant London-based songwriter since then and marveling at the consistently high quality of her sporadic creative output (she's only released one album since the late 90's -- 2005's Sentimental). So we were ecstatic to hear that Tikaram is close to wrapping up a new (and intriguing) studio project and that over the last couple of months she's been doing her first tour in a decade with a handful of "Acoustic Sessions" in Europe. So in anticipation to some new music and as a reintroduction to one of the most interesting voices in alt/pop we're presenting a recent acoustic version of "Wonderful Shadow", a song from her 1995 album Lovers In the City, along with the trip-hoppy original take.
