RADAR: Emma-Lee

Canadian singer/songwriter Emma-Lee downshifts from the jazzy, cabaret-friendly art/pop of her '09 debut album Never Just A Dream for simpler, acoustic-leaning alt-country on her forthcoming sophomore album Backseat Heroine, due in early 2012 February 7 north of the border. What hasn't changed is that bluesy voice, what we've described as a "marvel of smoky texture while still maintaining exquisite clarity" -- a quality that rings true on the bedroom folk of "Just Looking" and the rockier shuffle "You're Not Coming By".
