Brighton-based indie band The Maccabees return with their third album Given to the Wild on January 9 (Fiction UK), a project that's said to be influenced by the disparate likes of Kate Bush, The Stone Roses and David Bowie. Lead single "Pelican" is a twitchy, breathlessly off-beat rocker with some killer harmonies and a melody that seems like one long, extended razor sharp hook. Tim Goldsworthy and Bruno Ellingham (Massive Attack, LCD Soundsystem) produced. No U.S. release at this point -- though we're hoping that will change. PS: Turn it UP!
