Daily Track: Dido - "Everything to Lose"

As a glimpse of her upcoming fall album, Dido's "Everything to Lose" is nearly a complete 180 turn from her modest 2008 Safe Trip Home with producer Jon Brion. Gone are the pensive, socially aware ballads and more naturalistic production. Back -- and we mean really back -- are the lush electronics and spacious beats that helped make Dido a multi-platinum selling international star on her first two bestselling albums. At the studio helm is brother Rollo and Sister Bliss -- both from the U.K. dance/pop outfit Faithless -- and the results on the super-sleek "Everything" are glitteringly rhythmic and surprisingly soaked in simple sugar, dissolving on the tongue with a quick rush to the bloodstream. Sounds like a dido-voiced faithless song, which is what I liked about her in the first place. Here's hoping the rest of the album is as lush as this track is.
