Daily Track: Ben Taylor - 'By Your Side' (Sade Cover)

Any doubt about the identity of Ben Taylor's famous father is quickly erased once he opens his mouth and starts to sing (hint: his mom's name is Carly). That gentle, reedy tone has been in search of a unique musical style to match for the past fifteen years (we still hold onto our advance CD of his unreleased 1997 debut album) and the new original songs on his website reflect a stylistic mash-up of oddly disparate influences. But Taylor has also been working on a series of cover songs for a possible album collection On Top of the Covers which would include this lovely acoustic take on "By Your Side" from Sade, a version that makes us think of the song in a completely new way. Nice.
