As the daughter of the late actor John Ritter and grand-daughter of country legend Tex Ritter, L.A. singer/songwriter Carly Ritter has a bio set to pique interest before the first note of her music is heard. Even her just released Vanguard Records debut album has a rather distinguished pedigree with production from the husband and wife team of Joachim Cooder and Juliette Commagere along with Joachim's legendary father Ry Cooder and Juliette's brother Robert Francis adding instrumental support. Fortunately, Ritter easily sidesteps the expected name-dropping on her self-titled album and delivers some appealing, laid-back songs enveloped in a mellow and nostalgic SoCal folk/pop haze. “Joachim and Juliette have such a feel for mid-’60s and ’70s music," says Ritter, "and they got this amazing sound." DC fave "It Is Love" exemplifies what T Bone Burnett calls "the grace of her songwriting and the beautiful honesty of her singing."
