Elvis Costello & The Roots Project 'Wise Up Ghost' Due September 17

Elvis Costello and The Roots will see the release of their collaborative project Wise Up Ghosts on September 17 via Blue Note/Universal. The album will be released in both a regular and deluxe version. Track listing is yet to be announced. Costello and famed Philly R+B/hip-hop band began their association when Costello appeared on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon where The Roots are featured as the show's house band.

"It was really love at first sight," says The Roots' "Questlove" Thompson of Costello's appearances on the show. "The second time he came on, we surpassed the first one. So by the third time, he was like, 'Let's stop messing around and do something together.'" Costello and The Roots reportedly recorded nearly 20 songs during their studio sessions of which about a dozen will make it to the regular version. Speculation is that a few of the remaining tracks will end up up on the deluxe version. Says Thompson: "I can just say that it is brilliant."
