The Civil Wars Announce Self-Titled 2nd Album for Late Summer Drop

The Grammy-winning duo of Joy Williams and John Paul White -- aka Nashville-based duo The Civil Wars -- have announced that their long-awaited new album is being wrapped up now for a projected late summer release via new label home Columbia. The new self-titled project, their first since the indie-released Barton Hollow, follows months of speculation over the future of The Civil Wars after the announcement that the band had canceled a European tour due to “internal discord and irreconcilable differences of ambition.” The cover of the new album is a black and white photo depicting billows of smoke. "Patience is a virtue. Yours has been appreciated," White tells fans in a note to fans on the duo's website. Williams wrote in a separate note: "I’m grateful for your patient support. I am very glad to say that new music is coming and I am finally proud of this album. A lot of soul, sweat and tears went into its creation. I hope you feel the heart in each song, that it might connect with yours. We are, each one of us, all journeying, learning and growing along this ever-evolving path."
