New York post-punk rockers The Strokes have been given an official March 22 street date for their as-yet-untitled fourth album according to an internal RCA label release schedule. The project, the band's first since 2006, is said to have a "classic sound" with bassist Nikolai Fraiture telling the BBC “Sonically, I feel it’s the album which should have been made between (2003's) Room on Fire and (2006's) First Impressions of Earth.”
In the five years since The Strokes' last album First Impressions of Earth, frontman Julian Casablancas launched a debut solo album Phrazes for the Young in 2009 and Albert Hammond, Jr. released two: Yours to Keep (2006) and Como Te Llama? (2008).
First single from the new album, according to RCA, will arrive at radio in February.
