Gomez - Whatever's On Your Mind

Gomez -  Mercury Prize-winning Brit indie (sm)art/rockers take the term "self-produced" to a whole new level on their seventh studio album as each band member took a turn tinkering with the project's ten songs, adding new instruments, lyrics and even a chorus or two (those wanting to check out the original versions will get them as a bonus via a pre-order)// Release: Whatever's On Your Mind (June 21, ATO) // Sounds like: a fresh, invigorated take on the trusty Gomez factor where the consistently interesting and the accessible join hands...WOYM may rattle a few fans with a decidedly ramshackle stylistic catch-all -- does democracy work best in creative setting? -- but with three singers and four songwriters there's never a shortage of solid material working the diverse touchstones of blues, 70's styled pop/rock, even a hint of psychedelica, U.K. folk and funky R+B // Quote: "It's just easier to dump everything into a big bucket in the sky. We all have different musical interests, and working solo just takes taste out of the equation." -- Ian Ball on the band's "cloud" creative concept to SPIN // What we like: "Options" has a playful bounce, some soaring harmonies and a strummy, sunny springtime feel..."Just As Lost As You" chugs along amicably with some fine fret work..."The Place and the People" snakes and twists XTC-style through one jangly hook after another...

Love the Gomzez tune, I was turned onto them a few years back when I heard "How We operate" loved the multi singer vibe on each album. Doesnt usually work but it does for them, much like Guster.

Anyway great site glad I stumbled on it after seeing coverage of a friend of mine.

all the best,
Dion
