Heirlooms of August - Forever the Moon

Heirlooms of August - Jerry Vessel, former Red House Painters bassist and touring member of Mark Kozelek's Sun Kil Moon, is the guiding creative force behind this new project that features members of American Music Club, Ani Difranco's band and the RHP's...after a number of years in the Bay Area, Vessel left San Francisco behind to return to the rural confines of California's San Joaquin Valley // Release: Forever the Moon (June 21, Caldo Verde) // Sounds like: gorgeous acoustic chamber pop tapestry woven with a dense, rich folk/country thread...elements of British folk traditions -- particularly with Vivian Ginn's harmonies -- and gentle Americana waft in and out // Quote: "Inspired by the rural surroundings in which he now lives, Vessel found the time and solitude to reflect and write..." // What we like: the subdued interplay of violin, bass, steel and acoustic guitars behind Vessel's plaintive vocals on "Marianna's Place"...the exquisite "Andrew and Emma" hangs somewhere between campfire folk tune and lush introspection...
