Matt Costa - Mobile Chateau - September 21 - Universal / Brushfire - Third full-length -- and first self-produced -- album from SoCal singer/songwriter and Jack Johnson labelmate finds the bright, melodic pop/rock of earlier efforts now completely emersed in the classic, sometimes trippy trappings of what Costa refers to as his "60's psychedelic superheroes". Says Costa: "I've been hearing songs like these in my head for my whole life and Mobile Chateau is the closest I've gotten to getting those songs out of my head and onto a record." Lead preview track "Witchcraft" conjures up retro British Invasion of early Who and Zombies, with reverb-heavy effects, twanging tremeloed guitar riffs and and a "can't expla-a-a-a-in" chorus.
